Connect Nicoka in ChatGPT
The Nicoka MCP connector lets you query and update your Nicoka data (candidates, contacts, opportunities, invoices…) directly from ChatGPT. Answers appear in your conversation; when you ask for it, ChatGPT also creates items in Nicoka, such as a note or a task. The video below shows the whole connection step by step.
Before you start
- On the ChatGPT side: adding a custom connector depends on your ChatGPT plan. In an organization (Business, Enterprise, Edu), an administrator may need to allow it. If in doubt, check ChatGPT's help.
- On the Nicoka side: your profile must allow you to connect an application. If the connection is refused, ask your company's Nicoka administrator.
- Your MCP server address:
https://YOUR-INSTANCE.nicoka.com/api/mcp. Replace YOUR-INSTANCE with the subdomain of your Nicoka workspace, the one in your browser's address bar. If in doubt, ask Nicoka support.
1. Add the Nicoka connector in ChatGPT
- Sign in to ChatGPT, then open its settings, Apps and connectors section.
- If ChatGPT asks, turn on developer mode in the advanced settings: it is required to add a custom connector. Its location may vary depending on your version of ChatGPT.
- Create a connector and fill in:
- Name: Nicoka;
- Description: for example "Nicoka data: candidates, contacts, opportunities" (ChatGPT uses it to decide when to use the connector);
- MCP server URL:
https://YOUR-INSTANCE.nicoka.com/api/mcp; - Authentication: OAuth.
- Confirm the creation.
2. Authorize access with your Nicoka account
- In ChatGPT, start the connection of the Nicoka connector.
- ChatGPT redirects you to Nicoka. If you are not already signed in, log in with your usual Nicoka account.
- Nicoka's Authorize access screen shows which application is requesting access, your name, and what it will be able to do. Click Authorize.
You then return to ChatGPT with the connector active. ChatGPT never has access to your Nicoka password, and it acts with your rights: it only sees what you see in Nicoka.
3. Turn on the connector in a conversation and test it
- In a new conversation, turn on the Nicoka connector from ChatGPT's tools menu.
- Ask a first question, for example: "List my 5 latest opportunities in Nicoka".
- ChatGPT may ask you to confirm the use of a Nicoka tool, especially before a write action. Read the request, then confirm.
Tip: start with read questions (list candidates, search contacts…) and keep confirmation for write actions (creating or editing records) until you get comfortable. The tools are detailed in What your AI assistant can do in Nicoka (MCP).
4. If something goes wrong
- The connector cannot be created: check that the server address ends with
/api/mcp, that developer mode is on and that your ChatGPT plan allows custom connectors. To fix the address, delete the connector and create it again. - Nicoka refuses access: your Nicoka profile does not allow you to connect an application. Contact your company's Nicoka administrator.
- ChatGPT does not use Nicoka: check that the connector is turned on in the conversation, then name Nicoka in your request: "In Nicoka, list my 5 latest opportunities".
- The authorization has expired or new tools do not appear: disconnect then reconnect the connector, as explained in Refresh your AI connection with Nicoka (MCP).
