Propose the trial period by socio-professional category and contract type

In Nicoka HRIS, the trial period proposed when hiring comes from the contract type (see Manage contract types). You can refine this proposal by the employee's socio-professional category (SPC): for each category, set the trial period and its renewal per contract type, for instance 2 months for a worker on a permanent contract, 4 months for a manager. The proposed value stays editable on the contract.

Set the trial periods of a category

  1. In the side menu, open Settings > Modules, then click Settings on the Resources card.
  2. In the Professional data section, click Socio-professional categories (SPC).
  3. Click the pencil icon of the category.
  4. The window shows one row per active contract type: pick the Trial period and, when the contract allows it, the Renewable duration. Leave blank the contract types for which the category has nothing specific: the contract type default then applies.
  5. Click Update.

The Trial periods column of the category list sums up what is set, for instance "Permanent contract: 4 Months (+ 4 Months), Fixed-term: 1 Month".

What Nicoka then proposes

When creating an employee, as soon as the contract type and the category are chosen, the category's trial period is proposed and the trial period end date is recomputed. Without a row for that contract type, the type default is proposed, as before.

On a contract change from the employee's record (Professional data > Contracts > Add a contract change), the category of the current position is taken into account, for the trial period and for its renewal.

A row set for a contract type applies as a whole: a renewal left blank means "no renewal proposed", even if the contract type has one.

Collective agreement and contract duration

A category can be linked to collective agreements (Collective agreements column of the category list). When durations differ by agreement, create one category per agreement, for instance "Worker" and "Worker Guadeloupe", each with its own trial periods.

For a fixed-term contract, the legal trial period depends on the contract duration, not on the category: set it on the contract type (for instance a "Fixed-term" type with two weeks).
